The Swamp Rabbit Trail
This 22-mile paved greenway runs right through downtown, hugs the Reedy River, and on any weekend morning you'll see more dogs than you can count. Stop at Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery along the route — outdoor seating, craft beer, and your dog is an honored guest. Leashes required, but the social life your pup builds here? Priceless. Grateful Brew on South Pleasantburg provides water bowls and welcomes dogs indoors. The Commons at Unity Park has open-air seating and room for leashes. And several Greenville breweries host regular Yappy Hours benefiting the Greenville Humane Society — cold beer, good dogs, and you'll meet every dog owner in a five-mile radius.
On the calendar: the Mutt Strut (a 2-mile downtown walk for the Humane Society), Waggin' at the Waterpark (pools open exclusively to dogs at summer's end), and the UltiMutt Race — a 5K obstacle course you run with your dog. Prepare to be humbled by a golden retriever.
